Responsibilities
The Planning Board consists of seven members who are appointed by the City Commission and serve staggered terms of three years each. Some of the board's duties include:
- Prepare and recommend, in accordance with Florida Statues, a Comprehensive Plan
- Monitor and oversee the effectiveness and status of the city’s Comprehensive Plan
- Coordinate the city’s planning efforts and programs with those of other Bay County jurisdictions
The Planning Board is also designated to advise the City Commission on the following matters:
- Annexations
- Development Order Applications (both residential and commercial)
- Land use changes
- Rezoning changes
- Transportation facility changes
- Updating the Land Development Regulations
