The City of Callaway recovery process is going well. City of Callaway residents are asked to place any incident generated debris on the public right-of-way.
Keep vegetative debris (woody debris such as limbs and shrubbery) separated from construction and demolition debris, as they will be collected separately. Regular household garbage should not be placed with your disaster debris. Do not place near water meter vault, fire hydrant or any other above-ground utility. Only debris placed on the public right-of-way will be eligible for collection until further notice.
The intention of the Right of Way debris removal program is to assist with the collection of residential debris generated by Hurricane Michael. **This does not include demolition debris or reconstruction debris.** Please consult with your insurance company and/or contractor for demolition debris removal. If you are using a private contractor to perform work on your property they should be responsible for the debris removal and disposal associated with that work. We have additional personnel and law enforcement actively investigating the area for violations. Violators are subject to fines and even arrest. No insurance allows for debris to be pushed to the right-of-way.
If you see a violation, please contact us by phone (850) 871-6000 or by Facebook messenger. The debris clean-up will ultimately be paid by the city / citizens.
Commercial customers, please contact your contracted waste services provider for disposal services. Commercial includes apartments / businesses / and even churches. Commercial waste should not be placed on the right-of-way.
