Mayor Abbott was born and raised in Callaway.He was employed 20 years in public education and then returned home with his wife, Rimiko and their three children – Nae, Mina and Thomas.He has been in private business with Abbott Properties since 2001.

Mayor Abbott was elected on April 18, 2006, as Commissioner, Ward II and ran unopposed in April, 2010.He became the Mayor of Callaway on May 26, 2012, after the untimely passing of Mayor Robert Thompson.His current term as Mayor expires in April, 2014.
